Synopsis
Emil is celebrating his 9th anniversary without knowledge of his father. But Emil is (like all children) a imaginative boy and lets his father take form in his dreams, a form that is becoming truth in his eyes. Not only his single mother suffers while competing against this almighty vision for the grace of her introverted son, the father is also troubled by his bad consciousness and a little Emil haunting in his dreams. The spectator has to decide himself if the power of their dreams can really relink father and son who are meeting for the first time in real at the end of the film...

Shortmovie about emotional relics
18 min, 16 mm, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg
Four friends, in the second half of their lives, meet for a weekend holiday in the countryside. All of them are successfull opera artists somehow, and all of them are burnt out. Their private and professional lives are mere adjustments to reality. Though their biographies are related in different ways, the weekend is marked by unbearable boredom. Until old emotions turn everything upside down ...

The FBW-Jury awarded the film concordantly with the Prädikat wertvoll
Entertaining short tragicomedy about a quartett of theaterstars manque spending a week-end in a country house. It's going to be a week-end that reveales what had to be said in a thoroughgoing way. The Protagonists - suffering from their midlife crisis - defoliate dramatically perfect in both inner and outer directions. After an almost occurred show-down the former friends/partners are sliding into the emotional abyss.
There are beautiful, cinema-like pictures and funny dialogues, nearly each sentence is full of exquisit spitefulness and subliminal aggressions. The good performance of a risky but brilliant cast is unfortenuately unsettled by the partially blurred and coarse grained pictures that don't come up to the films' further qualites. We suppose that the adequate equipment wasn't available or one did not want to expose the actors completely to voyeurism, especially not in the night and nude shots.
Unfortunately the effect of these exposures makes the movie quite experimental and bothers the otherwise successfull story, because the spectator is dealing with the technical insufficiency instead of the interesting plot.

The film "PUPPETS" is a dark fairy-tale about an old master of puppets, his live-in housekeeper and a girl. Anna Porzelt succeeded to create a fascinating and bizarre movie. Especially the beautiful locations help to achieve a felicitous ambiance. Furthermore we have been convinced by the professionally used technic and the actors' performances. We wish Anna Porzelt to succeed at the filmschool.

This film satisfied the jury in several ways. Both the excellent transcription of the play on actual circumstances in our society and the protagonists' acting-performances are impressive. The dramatically well working camera is introducing the spectator in the oppressive world of this intimate play.
Awarded at Deutscher Jugendvideopreis
Give it a try! tells the story of four high-school graduates who want to manipulate the grades of their stranded exams. Anna Porzelt stages this story in a very sensitive and authentic way. Especially the multi-faceted performance of the actors and the elaborated camerawork convince. In spite of the static situation of conversation all involved people are able to maintain the films' tension up to the end.
